Christmas in Vienna really is magical: the city takes Christmas seriously. From mid-November, Vienna’s squares transform into Christmas markets. The prettiest buildings and streets get magical Christmas decorations and you can find a Christmas trees on almost every corner in the city center. Vienna dresses up spectacularly for the holiday Season, and several Christmas markets await everyone who likes Punch, Kaiserschmarrn, Christmas decorations and handicraft.
Most famous Christmas Markets:
- Christkindlmarkt on the Rathausplatz (the biggest and most famous) From 2024. November 16th – December 26th
- Schönbrunn (Royal vibe in front of the Schönbrunn Palace) From 2024. November 8th – until December 26th and then from December 27th to January 4th as a New Year market
- Stephansplatz (Stunning view in front of the Gothic Stephansdom Chatedral) From 2024. November 8th – December 26th
- Karlsplatz (For the lovers of handicrafts and goats) From 2024. November 15th – December 23th
- Freyung (Old, traditional market in the heart of Vienna – my recommendation) From 2024. November 15th – December 23th
